Making natural safe skincare available for those who care

Driven by a desire for effective, toxin-free skincare products available on the Kenyan market, and inspired by the potential of the essential oil plants we were growing in our own gardens, we began exploring how to create our own products: Essentials Kenya was born.

We are a completely natural, plant-based skincare company, based in Nairobi, that uses Kenyan produced oils and hydrosols ('plant waters') as the basis for its skincare products. Our products are free of toxins and only made with ingredients that are accepted by COSMOS, one of the biggest international natural cosmetic certification bodies.

The hydrosols, acquired through steam distillation of medicinal, naturally scented plants, are made from the plants that we grow in our farm in Bisil and the garden in Nairobi. The hydrosols contain a wealth of water-soluble plant nutrients and can be directly applied to the skin.

The carrier oils like baobab, coconut and moringa are locally sourced from Kenyan companies. They grow their crops by practicing sustainable and regenerative methods, protecting their soils and respecting the environment.
